Knicks sign Kadeem Allen

Postby ISIAH_THOMAS » July 25, 2018, 3:38 pm

The New York Knicks and free agent guard Kadeem Allen have agreed to a deal, a league source told The Athletic.

4:28 PM - Jul 25, 2018

Kadeem Allen is most known for his defense, both in college, and recently named to the All-NBA G-League Defensive team. He plays a physical defense, and you guessed it, has a long 6’9” wingspan

The Knicks have signed Kadeem Allen, a 2nd round pick in 2017 by the Boston Celtics. He was on a two-way deal with the Celtics last year. Knicks roster at capacity so this is likely a training camp deal.

Well, if Hicks doesn't get his game going, then I could see Kadeem replacing him along with his 2-way deal. Having an additional defensive stopper in the backcourt is a good thing.

He played at Arizona, so there's a lot of familiarity with Allonzo, could be a good combo to groom.

Has the length and athleticism to cover 2's. Appears that he's improved his playmaking since ncaa. I think if Mudiay or Baker screws up, then Kadeem could wind up on the starting day roster.

Apparently he's a monster on the defensive side of the ball. Could steal Mudiay's minutes if we see the same Mudiay we saw last season.

Kadeem and Vonleh are going to push other guys on the 15 man roster to bring their A-game in tc; this is good, everyone has to play with urgency.

His play reminds me of a Marcus Smart....brings more pressure from our roster .....you keep what you kill-Fizdale....Dotson, Hicks, Baker are all candidates to be replaced

Keep what you kill- Sounds familiar. Where's that from?

Anyway, was never impressed by Hicks. Always looked like he was coasting to me. Just rubbed me the wrong way.

We have a serious PG glut and I'm anxious for it to settle down and make sense. We keep stacking them up, now we need to shake some out. This may be training camp fodder but I wonder if it is designed to give the Knicks options with what to do with Baker and Mudiay before the season even begins.

I feel like Mudiay should go in a package with Lee or THJr, for a pile of donuts, and would prefer we do that before the season officially begins. We need to get these contracts off the books ASAP, and we need to open up the roster to give the kids some burn. Mudiay really is destined to be on the "bust" list and we shouldn't get in his way.

Will all be settled in tc, gotta earn your spot on the roster; don't think there's much of a trade market right now. Just before the season starts there should be a flurry of activity.

What Big J said.

Barring injury, I can’t see Allen being in the rotation.

He easily could be better than Mudiay.
