This kid needs his own thread too. Dominican, 6'11, 250, multi skilled, from Jersey, been playing on the Dominican national team since he was 16 and he's a Knicks fan!
Here are some highlights from his game tonight - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Towns is so skilled! I know some question his athleticism but he's catching alleyoops like nothing. Okafor is the far better post scorer but Towns is the better rebounder, passer, shotblocker and he's way more versatile.
Here is a scouting video.

Every year I can't stfu about one player and think he's a gem, often unnoticed only to see them rise up the draft boards last minute. I was all over Elfrid Payton. I called Westbrook. This year the player isn't that big a surprise. I give you Karl Towns. This guy , is gonna be a stud. I just feel it.
7fter that can play either C or Pf. Can run the floor, good passer, post moves and a jump shot. To me if Okofor is being compared to Duncan then Towns is your Rasheed Wallace. His interviews show he is a very mature player fit his age, probably from his national experience with DR. He's got a decent iq and he's currently going against a dream team of future nba players every day in practice right now.
I think he's the best prospect in the draft. He's got a versatile game and can be paired at the next level with just about any big, which to me makes him more valuable. I think there are certain bigs who specialize and do one thing better than him. Illicit is a more dominant post offensive player, Stein it's a better post defender. Even the guy from Texas might be a better floor spacer with that jump shot. But if you look at the lists in each category Towns would probably be in the top three. He's good at everything. And I think he's the most nba ready too. Maybe not to be a primary option but If the Knicks land a stud big in free agency, Towns could start alongside of anybody and you got a great front line.

No-one found Westy before Cragg, including the guys at ESPN lol. Some guys will come out of no-where before the NCAA is over.

Been following this class for about a year..... kid is a stud.
Okafor is no duncan but more like a smarter cousins but slower laterally.
Towns is like a derrick Coleman with more ability to dribble and move....he needs the eye of dominance to be as good as we assume. Something Coleman lacked also

i like him, but still have some questions about his lift, quicks; he's fine in ncaa but will he have enough of that to compete in the nba? the game is not always a head-to-head matchup of center-on-center, a lot of times he'll have to rotate and pick up on a smaller player, run a shooter off the arc or be asked to hedge on the pick and roll as part of a team defensive concept. the footage against eastern kentucky should only be viewed as confirmation of potential, they aren't in the wildcats league at all. we need to see him against top tier competition, later in the season, when teams have gotten their act together, at their best.
I think we overestimate athleticism for 7 footers.
If Karl can pass/shoot/work on the block/rebound those things transcend to the NBA. Zach Randolph rebounds and can't jump...cousins cant jump...Duncan was never a great athlete Noah isn't a great athlete vertically. Pau isn't a great athlete...7 footers that have skill will always produce.
Weight is a big issue and moving laterally

Athleticism isn't an issue if your game is fundamentally sound, like TD or crafty like Zach. Cousins is athletic, maybe not explosive like Dwight, but his size, length, strength and ball skills are quite good.

Passing on him should have the Knicks be contracted.

I like Towns. Mainly because he wears the number 12, but the kid has potential.

Let's hope that they don't make any changes to their top 3 or else your choices will have to change...

Anyone else watching Kentucky destroy Missouri?
Other than highlights this is the first I've seen of Towns live. I just don't know. I could see him being a Tyson Chandler type, but I'm not sure if he'll be a better/as good offensive player. I see what the hype is about though.

Towns is still growing can max out at 7"3 or min is 7"1.
He has a massive frame and body. I'm sorry, but this kid can put on 15 more lbs and be a savage on the block.
Posters in here say "Karl lacks a post game", they said that about Nikola Vucevic at USC...now Vucevic is averaging 18 ppg.
Towns will be a 15-18 ppg scorer at his prime. His major strengths are his all around versatility on defense.
Man to Man defense B+
Ball denial - A
Defending the pick and roll B
Shot blocking - A+
Defensive Awareness - A
and he's barely 19...
