Keeping an eye on him this season
Team looks lost and look like they never practice. Defense always clueless. Hahn and Wally seem to agree
No I don't expect to win many games, but I'm not sure he can coach

Perry, a longtime executive but first-time GM, has been impressed with the way Hornacek ran training camp and is coaching the team. He credited Hornacek for holding the players accountable and stressing defense.
“I felt in training camp he did a good job of doing that, getting his philosophy out there, getting that message out there,” Perry said. “So I’m looking forward to working with him and just learning more about what he does on the floor.
“The big thing is, is this team competing, playing hard, playing together, trying to defend each and every night? If we can do that, then we can live with the results. And then I think the fans will at least be able to see the direction we’re headed. That’s going to be key in establishing that direction or trend we’re headed as an organization.”

"Off all these Knicks rotation players -- Porzingis, Kanter, McDermott, Beasley, Willy Hernangomez, Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah and Lance Thomas - none posted a defensive rating last season lower than 107.7. That's in the bottom 35 percent of the league."
I know defense is a team concept, but at some point, if everyone lets the guy in front of him do whatever he wants, defensive schemes go down the drain

Is that Nets team way better than the Knicks? Down 38 points lol. This team look like they belong in the g league. Coaching makes a differencespree#8 wrote:It's still preseason in an expected tank season and we already have the second "Hornacek can't coach"-thread?

The Tank loves Jeff Hornacek, cause Jeff Hornacek loves The Tank.rebound wrote:he'll coach the knicks to a top 5 pick.
4 of the top five picks (Bomba excluded) appear to be extremely talented http://www.nbadraft.net/2018mock_draft

I like what I've seen of Sexton, but yea top 4 would be ideal.shakespeare wrote: The Tank loves Jeff Hornacek, cause Jeff Hornacek loves The Tank.

This far out drafts always look really top-heavy. Over the course of the college season more prospects will emerge and the top prospects start to look mortal when they play against D1 teams. A higher pick is better but I think it's too early to start worrying about a drop-off or threshold.
Hornacek is being set up to fail.
-he excelled with 2 PG lineup and he has no PGs on the roster
-he excelled with small-ball and he has 5 centers
-he lacks 2-way, versatile wings
-Rambis is still an assistant coach
-he has a slow team that doesn't play defense or shoot well
-pretty much all of the vets are going to be on the block
I'm not going to count Frank as a negative because I'm high on him but rookie PGs generally don't help make the coach look good either. Jeff is going to look horrible and there are going to be a lot of negative rumblings. But I don't think it would be fair to judge him harshly based on this season. The team should be terrible.
