I say why the eff not... (I thought it should have happened this season if Baker wasn't able get released from the Celtics)
As long as he get's paid the MIN (or less  ) and he doesn't steal a roster slot from a young player like Eddie Griffin (FA PF).
But that will be a wild occurrence (roster space permitting): The Worm In The "Big Apple". If he play with half the energy, passion, and toughness he played with in his prime he will be a garden favorite like Sweetney.
I would rather have D. Rodman than T. Knight, and depends how much/little his skills decline I might want him more than M. Doleac/C. Oakley/A. Mason. If y'all were so supportive of Dikembe Mutombo starting for NY, why would their be ANY problem with Dennis Rodman being the 3rd or 4th string PF (2nd if he deserves it, but 1st will have to be Sweetney).

Also Irv and Linda ya know dude means Dennis Rodman not Robman, so why don't y'all user y'all administrator status to correct his typo.

While we're at it.. let's relist The Chief... I mean come on, he's still young, although lots of grey hair, he can take on Dennis Rodman anyday, and he parties less than Rodman, so health shouldn't be a problem.. Oh wait, that reminds me, Ewing can still play... so Let's have Ewing (C), The Chief (F/C) and Rodman (F) for the low post treat, uh, I mean threat....

people let's look at the facts:
Dennis is 43 years old.
He wants to go out with a championship similar to Malone and Payton(They are only 3 years younger!!)
Howard Stern this morning talked about how Dennis Rodman wants to play for the Knicks and it got Howard's support.
Knicks fans, including myself, are behind this idea
Dennis Rodman got 20 rebounds a game with the ABA in California
Dennis Rodman is a hungry animal. an aging warrior with heart, fire, passion and an undying LOVE of basketball. He wants a championship and he wants to play in New York.
Issah said he would consider Dennis. That is GOOD NEWS.
I think even if Dennis is reduced to an off the becnh player he would make a HUGE contribution and challenge Rasheed for best Foward in the East.
RODZILLA!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

It's not our job to be another person's spell checker. If you're going to actively promote or discuss the name of a player or a coach -- especially if you are a fan of that person -- then do that guy a favor and spell his name right. If a Coach K fan spells out Krzyzewski, then that fan better spell it right.DaInformer wrote:Also Irv and Linda ya know dude means Dennis Rodman not Robman, so why don't y'all user y'all administrator status to correct his typo.
How this fact helps your case is beyond all of us.RagingKnick wrote:Dennis is 43 years old.
The Knicks are not winning the championship next year (and hopefully, neither are the Lakers this year).RagingKnick wrote:He wants to go out with a championship similar to Malone and Payton(They are only 3 years younger!!)
Because Howard Stern's day job is an NBA scout, right?RagingKnick wrote:Howard Stern this morning talked about how Dennis Rodman wants to play for the Knicks and it got Howard's support.
Most Knicks fans with a grasp of reality wouldn't want Rodman unless he signed a one year contract for the veteran's minimum or less, and in addition to that, only if he replaces Shandon Anderson on the roster.RagingKnick wrote:Knicks fans, including myself, are behind this idea
ABA != NBA.RagingKnick wrote:Dennis Rodman got 20 rebounds a game with the ABA in California
Well, I will at least give you the hungry animal part.RagingKnick wrote:Dennis Rodman is a hungry animal. an aging warrior with heart, fire, passion and an undying LOVE of basketball. He wants a championship and he wants to play in New York.
And if Isiah considers Rodman for anything more than a one year veteran's minimum, he's a lunatic because the Knicks neither have the roster space nor the cap space to offer Rodman more.RagingKnick wrote:Issah said he would consider Dennis. That is GOOD NEWS.
Logic, where art thou? How can he be the best forward in the Eastern Conference if he's coming off the bench?RagingKnick wrote:I think even if Dennis is reduced to an off the becnh player he would make a HUGE contribution and challenge Rasheed for best Foward in the East.
Once in a while I do edit thread titles that are blatantly misspelled if it bothers me too much, but people should be responsible for their own content in their posts. Besides, some typos are amusing.DaInformer wrote: Also Irv and Linda ya know dude means Dennis Rodman not Robman, so why don't y'all user y'all administrator status to correct his typo.

lol, yes, let's compltely waste one of our two precious roster spots on a 43 year old toddering grandpa who cudnt cut it for the ABA Long Beach Jam.
Rodman sucked for the Jam, so why the hell would we want him in the NBA?
He was injured in his first game back as a pro.....threads like this make me wonder about sanity in the world.....

okay i guess i have to fire back a few shots at people who i think i am crazy.
Rodman was Ripping down Rebounds with the ABA.
It shows like Wine Dennis Rodman gets better with age.
personally if it were me i would give Dennis a juicy 7 year deal. At the end of 7 years i would make him Head Coach and eventially GM.. thats just me the biggest Rodman fan on here

And we thought Scott Layden was the worst person imaginable running the Knicks...RagingKnick wrote:personally if it were me i would give Dennis a juicy 7 year deal. At the end of 7 years i would make him Head Coach and eventially GM.. thats just me the biggest Rodman fan on here
personally I would rather see trybanski. Atleast he's young. I dont even think Rodman can run the court 5 times up and down. The guy is 43 and is way past his prime. If we were to be interested in Rodman I would have him be some sort of rebound coach. But who knows maybe he can still play.

I don't think the people who are in favor of giving Rodman a chance was suggesting he get a multi-million multi- year deal. The MIN for one year is usually the standard when trying a player out to see if he can produce for your team.
And of course (like I said before) this is only a good idea if he doesn't end up taking a roster spot from someone younger and better (Eddie Griffin for example). But if Isiah plans to get rid of Kurt Thomas, Frank Williams, Shandon Anderson, Othella Harrington, Dikembe Mutombo, and maybe Cezary Trybanski -for- one or two young prospects (C & SG)/ #1 draft pick and maybe a bad contract. Then that should definitely free up a lot more roster spaces, allowing IT to re-sign Johnson & Baker, and use the MLE to sign 2nd round pick, a decent FA (PF or PG), and hopefully some young potential like Griffin and/or Cooke. If there is room and KT indeed gets traded, then I say giving the best rebounder of recent times (IMO) a chance to play the 3rd string veteran PF role (even at 43) isn't a bad idea AT ALL.
Especially when intensity, desire, toughness, defense (especially low post), and rebounding have been obvious flaws in the Knicks game.... but that's just me.

Lets compare shall we: As recently as the 2000 season Dennis Rodman averaged 14.30 RPG (10.30 Def RPG) in 32 MPG for the Dallas Mavericks, while Kurt Thomas averaged 8.30 Total RPG for NY Knicks in the same 32 MPG last season. Dennis Robme.. excuse me... Rodman could probably average 8.30 RPG as a 3rd string PF getting only 18-23 MPG, at 43 year of age. Hell, I'll bet the real Dennis Robmen could probably average more than 8.3 RPG as a starting PF averaging over 30+ MPG.

Everybody is talking about this like it's guaranteed to be feasible, but in reality two questions remain: Are walkers allowed on an NBA court? And does a strong enough denture adherent exist so that Dennis won't get his chompers smacked out of his mouth when jostling for position in the paint?
If not, we should seriously consider bringing in either Tree Rollins or Herb Williams.

Bring the WORM to NY.
The NBA is lacking in physical players like him and Oakley and Barkley these days. I bet he can intimidate some of these younger players if he doesn't pass out on the court.
Oh yea RODMAN has FIVE rings..

Okay, I got you now. For a moment there, I thought you were going to make me break out the sheet of useless stats to find scrubs who won more rings than Rodman.
