Well I was happening to be watching the YES Network when I heard Layden was going to be on, so I got my ears ready and couldn't wait to listen to this idiot.

They asked Layden questions on Sweetney. They asked him why he hasn't been playing, and they were pushing for an answer from Layden. Layden kept saying that in time he would play. The reason that they drafted Sweetney was for the future, blah blah blah. They got him for flexibility and that he's a hard worker, yadda yadda.

They talked about Milos Vujanic and Mike was really pressing Layden for an answer here. He asked him why he wasn't here this year. Layden said that he would like to play in Eurpoe first, but couldn't finish much because Mike sounded pissed at Layden for not getting Milos here, because the Knick PG's suck. Layden did say that they will try their best to get Milos over for next year.

Layden said Chaney will be a Knicks Coach for a Long Time.

Have you recovered..

....
....

...
...

Hopefully you've recovered from that statement.

Now, on the Spree-KVH trade. Mike and Maddog made it clear that Spree is a much better player than KVH. They asked him why he did it, and Layden said that KVH is 5 years younger, and taller. Mike and Maddog mentioned that they arent better defensively, and although they are taller at SF they are now slower which still brings a disadvtange. As this was mentioned it was vintage Layden, trying to get out of the question, either though Mike and Chris did press him hard and Layden did his best not to answer that. All he said was he felt that the team was better.

McDyess update is the same. When he's ready.

Also. During the ending Mike and Chris pointed out that MSG hasn't sold out in a while and the people are starting to get pissed at the Knicks. Layden said that he is happy from the emotion of the crowd, which was a funny bit. Layden kept talking about the crowd being great and the people being great. They also talked about the 3-7 record, and when this will improve. Layden said that they aren't happy about this, but they would be at .500 if it werent for those 2 games. He kept mentioning that, which got Mike a bit pissed.

And pretty much everything else is the same ol' Layden jibber jabber. Mike and Chris were pretty frustrated and tried to laugh it off towards the ending of the interview and they asked for another.

What a clown, he ducks every question. I kind of feel a bit bad for the guy considering the way they were treating him, and some of the stuff Layden was saying made a little sense. But still, the guy is a clown.

Layden brought it all on himself for being so out of touch with the entire city. Mike and the Mad Dog are plain irritating to listen to most of the time, but they are asking the questions that all Knicks fans are thinking. It's Layden's own damn fault that he chooses to be so vague and evasive. If he wasn't such a coward, maybe some of us wouldn't dislike him as much.

Mike & the Mad Dog are terrible. Don't know how you could watch them,
much less listen to them. I'm stuck on ESPN radio now that I can choose.

As far as Layden, I got a feeling that he'll bail us out.
I wish someone could ask him if it was he who negotiated
Shandon's contract, or VanGundy, or did Houston just sucker
us, and Layden was so happy that he did see the "extra" years
on Anderson's contract.
I really want to know, because Jeff did leave pretty swiftly.

Who knows, we may be eating our words in 3 years & hoping Layden
resigns with NY because of the gems he's uncovered.

Frank Williams has "a chance" to be great. He would've been the 1st PG drafted this year, so we have to be patient.
Lampe's drafting was odvious, but Layden WAS trying to get him at pick 23 to 29 also, and the 4 year lockup was pure genius, to be honest.
Milos sounds legendary IMO. He sounds like a can't miss, above average NBA player (acoording anyone who's watched him,
from Don Nelson to the whole Yugoslavian team), and at the draft,
EVERYONE was like "...Milos WHO???"

That alone should buy Layden a pass, because if you really look at it, this year, Layden may have nabbed 4 lottery picks,
had Frank Williams & Milos been in this years draft. Think about it. Hindsight is 20/20,
but Layden saw Milos a mile away, before anyone not named Vlade. From his stats and reviews,
it seems Layden found the new Drazen Petrovic. If so, 3 years from now, I'd be content with that.
He's already made up for taking on Anderson & Eisley's contract when I really think about it. Now if he could only dump 'em... :cheer:

Wow, those are some pretty good points. My Layden rating has now improved from -4 to -3.

I really do see your points though. If Milos and Frank end up making up the point guard core next year, that would spell a great future. Also, I dont think the knicks can manage to resign Mcdyess or KT after this year. KT will sign with Dallas or Houston (the knicks can match any offer, as KT will be a restricted free agent, but there is no point in matching an offer for a guy who really doesnt want to play for you, unless he is just doing it for $$ leverage) That means that there is a possibilty that Sweetney and Lampe will be the two main guys in the 4 slot. If those guys blossom, then you are right, Layden could be viewed as a genius (did I just say that?)

Layden gets a break as soon as his guys pan out. I still think he sucks as a public speaker and I still don't think he knows jack about the NBA, but I will give him credit for being a decent scout. He's a yes man, which makes for a terrible manager. He can't lay down the law. On the other hand, there would be a lot less pressure and attention on him if he were just a scout. Maybe that's what he should do instead of being the GM of this team. It would be a more comfortable fit for both him and the entire freakin Knick fan population.

As far as the players go, Chaney is making Layden look bad. I don't think Layden understands NBA player development very well, so he's leaves that part up to Don, which is a big mistake.

Irv, I agree 100%, especially concerning Chaney, but a pissing match is the reason Layden got brought here. I'd take my time and let the "Chaney problem" work itself out.
If we're 10 games under .500 by Christmas, even poppa Dolan will be demanding Doc.

layden sounded like such a bitch in that interview. he kept saying that the team is so talented, and mike & dog brought up the record. Layden then choked and kept avoiding their argument. What a shmuck. he can't ever answer a single question. I hope he dies.

For all of Layden's shortcomings he did assemble a .500 team (.500 plus considering our recent competition) for this season, he deservedly caught the most heat in the offseason, but right now the cause for our lack of success should be put squarely on Chaney.

But Layden is completely bitch-made. It's one thing for management to put on these rose-colored glasses, in response to our troubles, and a united front, in the public eye... but absolutely absurd, behind closed doors, for them ignore the reality that changes need to made.

This team is hopeless...

Wow, this guy isn't really our GM, of the New York Knicks, is he??? That is the funniest interview that I have heard in a long time!!!

This clip amused me greatly once I finally got the chance to hear it. For once, Mike and Chris did a delightful job of grilling Layden and I found his continuous inability to answer questions to be very entertaining. At the beginning of the interview, he at least attempted to avert the given controversial question using ineffective logic. Towards the end of the interview, he totally gave up and blithely ignores all such questions as if he didn't hear them and dogged marched onwards in his own broken-recorded logic.

I heard the interview live. Layden has mastered the art of not answering the question asked, by responding with some worthless, non-descript, blanter. This is a talent that many ballplayers should learn (Keyshaun Johnson, Warren Sapp, Barry Bonds, etc.).

What is frustrating is that he never leaves you with a feeling that you learned something. When Checketts was around, he would give honest answers, sometimes, blunt answers. Layden leaves you with the same empty feeling you had before the interview. :x

I have reached a point where I don't even listen to him anymore. He give the same answer to the same questions no one really steps up and really speaks down to him and that is the problem the guys asking the questions are soft because they are afraid he won't give an interview again. I tend to just not listen to him. You won't learn anything about what is happening with the team except we like the direction the team is going in.

Hey don't bash the movie. It had an ending people don't get cause they obviously didn't listen in the first movie. Anyway, Layden would have been a great agent in the Matrix. Him and Smith would be great together.

I can see it now. Layden dressed as Agent Smith saying...

"...Mister Anderson...I've made you a very wealthly man."

I'm really not that surprised how he answered those questions.. That's what GM's do.. dance around questions, never really giving you a solid answer. I think that holds true for most professional sports and management.. Ask a lot, get a little of nothing..
