Did you see Durant's stats? Could not even bench press 185 pounds even once! Check out Oden, even faster in some ways than Durant despite the extra size. Durant better start eating his Wheaties (along with a few steaks) ...
Other than height, wingspan & vertical, IMO most of those stats are useless.
For one thing, IF you wanted to use raw strength to evaluate someone, they should be doing squats - your strength comes from your legs.
And in basketball it comes even more from knowing how to use your body, leverage, how upright you play in the post.
Just like getting to the rim has almost nothing to do with speed but how well you fake, how well you're able to vary your speed - Jason Kidd and Steve Nash won't win a lot of foot races but they can sure get to the rim.
If they played vs good competition, game tape. The measurements shouldn't have any impact.

Yeah, but I wouldn't take that too serious. He had nothing to proof there, his game speaks for itself, so I don't think he tried hard. Oden didn't even attempted to bench press, so perhaps Durant thought he don't need to either - which in itself could be a sign though, that he is sometimes a bit lazy with his work ethic...cragganmor wrote:Did you see Durant's stats? A nice article on how misleading reading too much into the physicals can be: http://draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=2096
But I don't agree completely with the author, who basically says the whole session is useless. I don't think that's the case, only the combine score is nonsense.
What I look at the measurement table are more things like "Are Corey Brewer and Al Horford really both 6'9'?" And the answer I got: No, Brewer is 6'8'', while Horford is a healthy 6'10''. That was important to know about, espescially for Horford, cause if the 6'9'' they always talked about were closer to 6'8'', he would have been a bit undersized at the four.
Or two prospects I talked about for the 23rd pick of the Knicks: Interesting to see that Daequan Cook measured out as 6'6'' and that he has the same wingspan as Brewer though being shorter.
Rodney Stuckey helped his stock too I think, because he is nearly 6'5'' instead of 6'3'', what could've been possible with a projected height of 6'4'' before the camp. Also a good sign for him, the speed he displayed in the three quarter sprint. Only Mike Conley was faster than him. And the bench pressing he did suggests that he indeed is very strong.
So I try to compare them more to themselves, to characteristics of them I wasn't sure about, in the sense, "Oh, he is faster than I thought" or something like that. But I think you have always to keep in mind whether the player tries to boost his stock or if can't hurt his anymore like Durant.

Congrats do DJ Strawberry, at number 1. If we didn't have Balkman, I'd be intruiged by him. Anda s far as Durant not being able to bench 185, it doisen't have a number for Oden either.

Daryl must be so proud of his son. Too bad he doesnt seem to be on anybody's projections. Though, he could find himself on a roster even if he goes undrafted as a "defensive specialist."n8 the gr8 wrote:Congrats do DJ Strawberry, at number 1. Anyways, I love how the top prospects, as Jonathon Givony points out (http://draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=2096), look to be the worse athletes on paper.

I've never seen him play, or not that I can remember. But he seems like the kind of player that I'd like to see Isiah pick up if he goes undrafted. Same with that crazy BC guy.RedStorm wrote:Daryl must be so proud of his son. Too bad he doesnt seem to be on anybody's projections.
