Laura Lane covers the Lakers for ESPN.com. She wrote a mildly invasive item about that weird purple tutu thing that Vanessa Bryant wore on the floor the night Kobe picked up his MVP award. Then after game 2 of the San Antonio series, Lane was leaving the Lakers locker room when Vanessa lit into her. Lane attributes it in part to the "rumors" of Kobe bonking one of the Laker Girls — "a hotter version of his wife who is also named Vanessa" — who has suddenly vanished from the squad.

So as I’m walking out of the Lakers locker room after some post-game interviews with the players, I pass Vanessa, who is sitting outside the locker room as usual with her two girls.

“Laura!” she screams (yes, she apparently knows my name). “Fuck you! You fucking bitch!”
“Excuse me?” I say, completely baffled as I look around me to see if there is someone else named Laura. No, there’s not.

Her daughters – ages 5 and 2 – are sitting next to her on the bench looking at their mom as she screams.

[More f-words ensue. Many more.]

I just stare at her. I’ve heard many stories about her from reporters, but this was unbelievable. Two of my friends from the LA Times told me how she cussed out one of them last season, because he said hi to her daughter. “Join the club, this means you’ve arrived,” said one reporter when word spread of my run-in with Vanessa. “She’s insane,” said another. “Everyone knows it.”

Lane is a 2007 USC grad who has worked at E! Online and was Ryan Seacrest's intern for awhile. She blogs, "The sad part is before all of this I kind of liked Vanessa and I thought we hit it off. She doesn't give a fuck about anything. She wears these insane outfits, struts around Staples Center like a queen, shows off her daughters and lets them run around the hall way playing tag while reporters are trying to get by....As a journalist I am going to piss people off. That’s just the nature of the business. I never want to or intend to piss people off, but if you’re not pissing people off occasionally, then you are constantly kissing ass."

Oh....I almost forgot.

This is Vanessa Curry, the 18-year old who Kobe was supposedly having an affair with.

I don't think this Vanessa is hotter than Kobe's wife. younger, yes, but it's not like Vanessa Bryant is an old lady. "tighter" perhaps, since I assume at 18 she's not birthed two kids yet.

What can you say, any NBA star who gets married and isnt a born again christian or whatever is just dumb and has no forsight. Being married is hard enough when you don't have women throwing themselves at you all the time.

yea, but after a while people start wondering about these NBA "bachelors". a lot of suspicion about a certain former Knick out there, his nickname rhymes with the word Schmenny

Just because your not married doesnt mean you cant have a long term girlfriends thrown in there, perhaps one fling with a celebrity. Hell, mix it up, the world is your oyster if your Kobe and single.

I agree. I am not the biggest fan of the marriage system, so when I see athletes lock themselves up in marriage at a young age, with more money and fame than they know what to do with, I'm skeptical that they will be able to stay true. It's too much pressure. I guess love is love, but they are so young, they don't understand that they are going to grow up, go through changes, and the woman that they were in love with in high school/college, might not be the girl of their dreams anymore.

It would save them and their spouse some trouble.

oh the spouse gets nicely compensated for their trouble. did you see the rock Kobe had to get for Vanessa after he cheated on her in Colorado?

Not saying these guys can't do it, but marriage is haaaaard enough without all the money and temptation out there. It takes a lot of trust, compromise and maturity. They probably think it's better to marry somebody that they knew before they got the loot. That's fine, but why rush into it? If it's real, there's no need to rush.

It might be better to sow those wild oats and get it out of your system, before promising to be faithful when that's almost impossible to do, especially with the groupies throwing their panties at you left and right. I don't think it's impossible, if you're grounded. But this wifey sounds like a maniac with too much money...
