1. Reggie Miller
2. Ray Allen

Reggie Miller was 39.5% career from the arc, Ray Allen is 39.8%.
Kidd is 34.8%, decent but not great; he did it through longevity and shot volume. Kidd will make it to the HOF as one of the most versatile and complete PGs in recent memory, doesn't need to be a great shooter from downtown like Miller and Allen.

I just saw that stat on NBA TV. That was kind of surprising to me as well. He can hit the three, yes. However, it's kind of said he can't make anything inside the arc.

See? Donnie definately knew what he was doing when he tried to sign Kidd (and Hill) regardless of age...they're playing great basketball even still...hate to say it but if we inked Hill and Kidd then we'd be a much better team now....

Well, congrats to him. Though anyone who watched him play knows this is more about longevity than being a pure shooter. Still, can't take anything away from him, definetely a Hall of Famer.

Yes we would've. Kidd is making 8.5 mil and Hill is making 3.3 mil. We would've simply had to let Lee walk with nothing in return: Turiaf 4 mil, Azabuike 3.3 mil, and Randolph 2 mil. Also, we could've just omitted that disasterous Roger Mason signing of 1.4 mil. Then there's Shawn Williams and Mozgov. Although Williams has been a nice surprise for us and Mozgov has potiential, there's lots of garbage contracts that we could've--and should've--left off if it would've made the difference in signing quality guys like Kidd and Hill. Also, you have to figure that Felton's 7.5 mil probably wouldn't be on our books if we had signed Kidd. Don't know how to feel about that one.bobhait wrote:Boston, if we'd signed Kidd and Hill we wouldn't have had the cash for Amar'e
At any rate, it's a moot point when you consider the fact that Walsh didn't turn either of them down... they both turned Walsh down. So there's really nothing to speculate about. It would've been nice though because both are on short deals.

Nononsense, around this time last year we were still trying to unload Jared Jeffries and his 6.8-mil deal, to get under the cap enough to go after two of the top free agents. we're talking about less than 7 mil and most fans were ecstatic when Donnie finally traded him to Houston, even though it cost us a pick, another pick swap and Jordan Hill. the addition of Kidd and Hill would've counted anywhere from 9 to 12 mil against the cap, in addition to Jeffries' deal still being on the books at that point. you gotta consider the possibility that without the extra cash available to our franchise Amar'e would've taken longer to weigh his options if he didn't think there was a possibility of the Knicks obtaining another star player, either last summer or in a not-too-distant future. hell, he could've even signed with the Bulls.
also, good as Kidd has been, he IS nearing the end of his career and is averaging under 8 points per. Raymond's obviously not on the same level as Kidd has been at distributing the ball, BUT, he is a lot younger, has been playing solid for us and is averaging pretty much the same number of assists as J-Kidd and almost 18 points per, all without a back-up. we need to look at this not only from where the Knicks are today, but where they're going to be next season and two years from now. Jason Kidd at 38-39 years old wouldn't be leading us to the finals as a starting PG.

here's the question - if the arc was part of the game a lot earlier, would Kidd have cracked the top 20, even with longevity?shakespeare wrote:Smart man, cragganmor.

Lo' and behold, Jason Kidd made a game-winning three point shot to defeat Boston tonight.
