Julius Randle has a true shooting percentage of 48.3 this season, add in his I only want to play defense when I feel like it and you have trouble

Highest usage of any player on the team as well

It's his overall effort that sucks. Even on offense. He walks up the court with or without the ball. Calls for the ball. Pounds the air out of it before doing whatever he does. Be it a bail out late clock pass or a spin into coverage. Step back mid range. The defensive side of the ball is horrendous. Pretty much standing around waiting for rebounds.

Yeah...gets numbers. Yeah. He has talent. His effort is just too lazy for my tastes.

Meh,knee jerk reaction...Tweak the lineup, decide between Quick or Hart and bring Grimes off the bench ..

Yeah.

Everyone knows Ju started the season worse than ever.

What's the point to keep bringing that up when we know he's getting back into shape as the season progresses?

From what I understand we still have a winning record even though we have a really hard schedule and one of our main players is still looking for his shot.

I agree that losing to the Suns wasn't great, but this is an 82-game season and that's not the only loss we will find along the way.

So basically........."No Shit?" Of course we're one elite star player away, and we still are somehow over .500 regardless of it EVEN with Randle starting out the year bad

We are reliant (of course, because the guy is our second best and least replaceable guy currently), but not too reliant and he is definitely not killing the team. I find it rather sad that he gets blamed for everything, especially considering we are on a great trajectory for what we have. It also has to be unhealthy to watch Knicks games just to be completely down after every loss and never giving credit for any wins, but that might be just me. I hope the talent of the group gets upgraded during the season, because it gets tiring to try to voice a more reasonable approach.

Sorry,I'm scapegoating Grimes...

Something is not right with him..

I watched one game where he looked absolutely lost..Handle was non existent..

Guy has gone to the FT line once the entire season

He goes after rebounds better than any player we have, if a person can just stand around and wait for rebounds mitch would be averaging 20 rebounds because he doesn't do much else.

Even if he didn't play an ounce of defense (which is bs) 20/25/5 and a +27 is more production than any player on the court...

But you want to call out a player who didn't give a full effort on a few defensive plays..

That's like saying My wife is beautiful, keeps the house clean, treats me like a king, raise's our kids well, has a great job, but since she can't cook I'm going divorce her..

Giannis does everything well but since he is a pathetic FT shooter, the bucks should trade him..

maybe you would be happy if we trade randle for a guy who plays hard, but can't shoot, rebound, or pass, AKA MITCH

Maybe you would be happy pointing out something that I said that isn't true? Because you didn't did that at all. Randle is a lazy slob on both ends of the court. Once in a while he makes an effort. Far too often he is walking around in circles or pounding the air out of the ball only to take a bad shot or make a bad pass/turnover. He gets rebounds because he is waiting for them instead of defending his man or boxing anyone out. He is always out of position and doesn't close out or jump more than two inches to try and get a block.

He's a lazy slob.

You have nothing to back up your claim... zereo

His basic stats, and ADVANCE STATS https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/knicks ... ve-ratingswould say other wise, the respect he has around the league would also say other wise.

Debating with a hater is always ridiculous, because It wouldn't matter if he played hard, had a 100 points, 50 rebounds, and 20 assist, and we won by 1, you would find some negative sht to say anyway..

Your mind is already made up, even if we won chip, your would still hate this guy and see no good in him at all..

Clearly no one in the NBA, FO or Coaching staff would remotely agree with you...

Maybe your comfortable with those all stars who live off of LOAD MANAGEMENT...play a week, sit a week

I'm glad you posted those advanced stats or else I would've forgotten that Mitchell Robinson is the best defender on the team. I mightve gotten confused and thought that all he did is chill around waiting for rebounds.

Now find me a stat for how many screens he sets for others and how many go unrewarded.

Nonsense. Dude is a lazy slob. Watch the games. He walks up and down the court. Argues with the refs instead of getting back on defense. He doesn't close out on the perimeter. He isn't interested in playing defense at all. He cherry picks rebounds when he should be boxing out/playing D. WATCH THE GAMES! HE'S LAZY.

Dealing with absolutes with Randle just doesn't explain the entire story with this guy.

If we all sat at a bar and watched the games together I'm 100% certain both sides of positive and negative points on Randle. Are valid to some degree.

As for his perception from other league officials....they are just as divided as this board is. Some say you can't win with him...some say he's great but gotta stop shooting 3's...some say he has to shoot more 3's...the only thing everyone agrees on is that Randle is a tough guy/works hard/great rebounder and loses his temper that is the only thing everyone can agree on. The rest is a HS debate with no cookies

I bash Randle because I'm not a fan and, it's fun watching heads spin about the guy.

40/27/70 ISN'T CUTTING IT!! He has had a few good games recently so, hopefully he gets those numbers up to respectable levels. His on again off again, every other year cycle is ridiculous. He is historically bad in the playoffs. He cannot be relied on as a cornerstone but, he'll get you some stats and help win some games.

I don't see us winning a title with him in any capacity. That's my biggest issue with him.

Are we still arguing with numbers at this point knowing how he started the season?

He has had 3 good games recently. Other than that, those numbers are his season. You don't have to defend everything Knicks. They can be criticized. The dude has been every other year terrible since being here. He has been historically bad in the playoffs.

Hopefully he breaks these trends but, until then he is having ANOTHER bad year.

What im saying is wait for the guy to properly get out of his awful start.

We know how the season started, but he seems to be finding his rhythm and making an extra effort to move the ball lately.

6 days later and this take didn't age well
No longer sick and tired that Kurt wasn't hired.
